Senior Citizen Party

27th November 2014Miss T GAUGHAN

Hello all,

The year 12 students from St. Joan of Arc’s ARC group (Active Roman Catholics) are raising awareness to organise a Senior citizens party this Christmas. This will take place at St Joan of Arc’s Hall on the 5th December. As Roman Catholics, Jesus taught us to love thy neighbour and by organising a Senior citizens part we are following the teachings of Jesus. We hope that the Senior Citizens enjoy the spread that we have put on and that they are reminded that there are people in society who think of them and they are not isolated nor neglected.

Photos of the event will be posted shortly.

GCSE Results 2014

25th August 2014Richard Kelly

Excellent GCSE Results

Congratulations to our Year 11 pupils on an excellent set of GCSE results this year. As well as many outstanding individual results the number of pupils attaining 5 or more A*C grades including English and maths has risen for the 3rd year in succession to 75%

This success is just reward for the pupil’s hard work, dedication and self belief. It is also fantastic that most of these pupils will be returning to complete their A level studies in our Sixth Form.

Applications to College

Hints and Tips

Following is a short list of hints and tips that I hope will ensure your college applications are made on time and effectively.

  • Be clear about the vocational area you want to explore.

  • If you are undecided or unclear please talk with your family, your teachers and make an appointment to speak to Mr Ritchie, your Careers Adviser in school.

  • Visit them as soon as you can even if the Open Day has passed.

  • Make an application by Christmas 2013. All application forms are on line but the school also has some paper prospectuses with application forms with in them.

  • Top Tip. Make a copy and complete it in rough off line first of all

  • Prepare your evidence and attend your interview. Talk to David Ritchie if you want some support with interview technique, he will help you prepare. Be confident!

  • This may be your Plan A or your Plan B but once it is made it is made and you can focus on achieving the best exam results you can.

  • If you want to discuss college courses, the 6th form or about apprenticeships please contact Mr Ritchie. His email is: dritchie@joa.herts.sch.uk or arrange an appointment through your From Tutor.
