Year 12 Biology Field Trip

Earlier this summer the year 12 biology students visited the Amersham field studies centre to carry out different sampling techniques in woodland and in open ground.  The data obtained was analysed using several different statistical methods.  The weather was kind and we had a good day practicing techniques that could be examined in the A level exams next year.

AS Biology Field Trip 2016

On the 20th April an intrepid band of AS biologists set out to investigate some of the wild and remote regions of Amersham, courtesy of the Amersham Field Studies Centre. It was tough day with the beautiful sunshine, flowering bluebells and only a warm classroom to retire to if it all became too much.

The serious side to this adventure was to give our budding A level biologists a chance to practice field sampling, and statistical techniques. This contributes to their certificate of practical competence awarded at the end of the A level course.

A selection of photos showing just how tough the day was are shown below. Spot the biological themed Jumper!
