Congratulations to 7 More who won the coveted Brainbuster Cup trophy.
They managed to keep their nerve in front of a capacity crowd to narrowly defeat 7 Alban after a thrilling buzzer round. Well done to everyone who competed in the competition and thank you to all the maths fans who came to watch and cheer.
The ‘Puzzle of the Day’ competition was won by Niall Bakry in 7 Frances. He correctly answered all 5 puzzles (solutions given here) and won a well deserved iTunes voucher.
The staff competition was won by a delighted Miss Marshall who walked away with the priceless trophy. Runners-up were Mrs Link and Mr Clarke who also got all the answers correct. Hats off to you all!
Tamara Lawrence, a former student of St Joan of Arc, can currently be seen at the National Theatre, in a biography of legendary Blues singer Ma Rainey. Tamara, who starred in our SSF production of Macbeth and in our school production, The Dracula Spectacula, was one of our highest achieving students in Drama and graduated from prestigious London Drama school RADA last year. The Guardian reviewer describes her performance as “an alluring and professional debut”: Well done Tamara!

It was extremely humbling and a privilege to be chosen to visit our local food bank. It made me realise how fortunate we are and how easy it is for anyone to undergo hard times and find themselves in a situation where they must choose to pay the rent or to eat. Giving our donations made me feel proud of our Catholic community and has helped encourage me to want to do more for others. It was surprising to hear how many people need our local food bank and made it very clear that hard times can affect us all. It felt great to put our faith into action and follow the teachings of Christ, by supporting ‘The Trussell Trust food bank’ we are really helping those who have met troubled time. Jesus taught us to ‘do to others as you would have them do to you’. We would like to say a huge thank you to both year 10 and 11 for their tremendous generosity as they have truly helped so many people in the community. No doubt year 9 will be as great.”

Year 12 A’level Art students took part in a weaving workshop with artist Jo Atherton.
Atherton is an artist who creates fascinating and playful tapestries using flotsam and materials found from scouring the coastlines of the UK.
She is fascinated by the curiosities that the tides wash up on to our beaches, the history associated with them, where they came from and who they belonged to.
Jo’s work is currently on display at the Artismeet gallery in Watersmeet until 26th February 2026.More about Jo can be found at www.flotsamweaving.com
