The MFL Department is proud to announce the winners of three competitions launched to celebrate European Languages Day on 26 September.
Year 9 essay-writing competition The winner is Joseph Hoy who wrote a well-researched, concise and engaging article about the importance of learning a foreign language. You can read the essay in full HERE
Second prize goes to Thomas O’Sullivan and third prize was awarded to Charlie Ambrose.
KS4 Photo competition – Students in Key Stage 4 and 5 were asked to submit a photograph along with a description of the photo in French, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish. Judges chose winning photos that were engaging and descriptions that were interesting and linguistically accurate. You can see the winning entries HERE
Winners of both competitions have been awarded Amazon shopping vouchers thanks to the generosity of the PFA.
1st Prize – Naleli Nonyane (French – Year 10)
2nd Prize – Lucy Ashcroft (French – Year 11)
3rd Prize – Alana Williams (Italian – Year 11)

KS3 – Idioms competition – Students in Year 7 and Year 8 were asked to submit an illustrated idiom in a foreign language. We had lots of wonderful entries, and the Year 7 winners were Emil Zych (first prize), Jack Pikavance (second prize) and Ellis Burke (third prize). Year 8 winners were: Aliki Kotsialos (first prize), Jakub Polewczyk (second prize), Cassie Lamb (third prize)
