CATHOLIC LIFE

LOCKDOWN 2021

MORNING MOTIVATION  –  MONDAY TO FRIDAY 8.15am

A moment to get us ready for the day, to find the motivation to start, and the momentum we need to carry us through the day. The idea is to transition us from our home-head space to our school-head space, even if we can’t change our physical space.

Starts Thursday 7th Jan via YouTube.com/theChaplaincy/live

ASSEMBLY*LIVE* –  WEDNESDAYS 12.30pm

Grab your lunch and get comfy for our weekly whole-school assembly. As well as a time to reflect and pray, it’s an opportunity to come together whilst we are apart. It still surprises how much people liked these assemblies in the last lockdown! We’ll be resurrecting some of the most popular features from 2020 as well as introducing some more fun and chaos to lift us in the middle of the week.

Starts Wednesday 6th Jan at YouTube.com/theChaplaincy/live

DAILY PRAYER

When Jesus’ disciples asked him how to pray, he didn’t just teach them the ‘Our Father’, he invited them to join him in his daily prayer life. So I offer that same invitation to you, to join me in my routine of prayer that helps connect me to God, lower my anxiety and give me peace.

The following will be live on Instagram @DcnLiam (instagram.com/DcnLiam/live)*

THE ANGELUS – MONDAY to FRIDAY 6am (12pm & 6pm)

The Angelus is a prayer that focusses on the Blessed Virgin Mary’s openness to be a part of God’s plan of salvation. So at the start of the day, we try to emulate her and open ourselves to God as she did. This simple prayer has three responses, three ‘Hail Mary’s’ and a short prayer to finish. You can see the words HERE.

It’s also common to stop in the middle (12 noon) and at the end of the working day (6pm) to check in with God and open ourselves once again to his inspiration, and offer him the day that has been. I might not be able to go live at every time, but the morning Angelus (6am) will stay available for the day so you can rewatch or just read the text by yourself.

Starts Thursday 7th Jan via Instagram @DcnLiam*

THE ROSARY – MONDAY at 1pm

There are more miracles attributed to praying the Rosary than any other type of prayer. Join me for a ‘quick’ Rosary at 1pm on Monday’s. We’ll be finished in time for afternoon lessons. You can join me for a decade (3-5 minutes) or the whole thing (15 minutes).

Starts Monday 11th Jan via Instagram @DcnLiam*

THE DIVINE MERCY PRAYER & EXAMEN – FRIDAY 3pm

The Divine Mercy prayer is an opportunity to stop and be grateful for Jesus’ death on the Cross at the approximate time that the Bible suggests that he died on Good Friday. This will also be an opportunity to look back over the week and be grateful for what has gone well, but also ask God for where we need healing and grace for the week ahead.

Starts Friday 8th Jan via Instagram @DcnLiam*

*an Instagram account is not necessary to watch, however Instagram will also be where I post short daily reflections on the Scriptures and Saints to keep us going.
