UDAYAN CONNECT PROJECT

As part of our new Udayan Connect Project, each form class will be connected to a child at Udayan. During a pupil’s time at JOA, they will connect with these children through correspondence and support. We hope that this project will help our own children grow in gratitude for the lives that they have (their material wealth, and also the freedom to live with family) as well as raise much needed funds to enable Udayan continue its work.

Business Insight Week
The Business Insight Week is a one week paid experience that will put you through your paces. You’ll get guidance and support every step of the way to explore the work we do and the opportunities we can offer you. We’ll top it all off by giving you the opportunity to share your experiences with other students on the programme and celebrate a fantastic week.

What you need to get in

  • Currently in year 12 and studying for AS levels or equivalent.
  • Interested in taking your first steps towards a career in business.
  • Available for a week during your summer holidays between years 12 and 13 from either 6th August or 20th August
  • On track to achieve a minimum of 96 UCAS points on the new tariff (three grade C’s or above) from your A levels. This should be from your top two subjects excluding General Studies.
  • You’ll also need to have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent. Please ensure you enter your predicted AS/A Level grades on your application form.

Portsmouth University Visit – 19th December – Business Studies Courses

All year 12 are eligible to apply, especially relevant to those beginning to consider  business marketing, finance related degree courses after year 13. There will also be an opportunity to take part in a live link with a student on a placement year and to and to experience an undergraduate mini lecture on Operational Management . #RedWednesday 22nd November

Red is the Christian colour of martyrdom. Christians are the most persecuted faith group in today’s world and #RedWednesday will honour all Christians who suffer and die for their faithfulness to Christ’s message of peace and love. #RedWednesday will shine a light on Christian persecution but also highlight the injustices perpetrated against other faith groups.

JOA will be holding #RedWednesday on Wednesday 22nd November to support the work of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). ACN are an organisation who work for the rights of those persecuted for their faith around the world.

On Wednesday 22nd November, we are asking that pupils donate 50p (via ParentPay) to support the work of ACN, whilst also wearing an item of red clothing in solidarity with those affected by religious persecution. There will also be student led lessons and reflections taking place in RE lessons and in the Chapel.

Year 12 and 13 Girls: Great, free, opportunity for you to learn about

investment banking over a two day work placement in The City.

Step In, Step Up is an introductory two-day programme designed for Year 12 and 13 female students. This programme comprises of divisional overviews, case studies, panel sessions, a trading floor tour and interactive workshops. Participants will also have the opportunity to work as a team, develop their presentation skills and network with employees at all stages of their careers.

Year 12 Biology Field Trip

Earlier this summer the year 12 biology students visited the Amersham field studies centre to carry out different sampling techniques in woodland and in open ground.  The data obtained was analysed using several different statistical methods.  The weather was kind and we had a good day practicing techniques that could be examined in the A level exams next year.

Geography Field Trip – Y10 & Y12 Students

On Tuesday 11th July and Wednesday 12th July our Year 10 and 12 Geography students visited different sites along The River Chess to explore the changing characteristics of the river and different areas of St Alban’s Centre to study changing land use. Despite the rain on Tuesday the student’s all did a fantastic job of collecting data using a range of methods that they will be tested on in their Geography GCSE next summer.

World Wise Week Geography Quiz

After school on Tuesday 27th June the Geography Department hosted the Year 7 and 8 World Wise Week Geography quiz where over 30 students battled it out to become St Joan of Arc Geography champions! A huge congratulations to the winning teams:
